It’s been a while since my last post as I was away on holiday in Southeast Asia. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely get around to dedicating a travel blog post and list of recommendations so stay tuned for that! 🙂
My weekend consisted of frequenting coffee shops with my boyfriend to overcome jetlag . My go to place for coffee is usually Coffee Bun, but since we were already there on Saturday, I wanted to try someplace new to change things up a bit. After a little digging, I discovered Standing Egg Coffee just south of where I live which was perfect as the drive there was less than 10 mins from home!
The coffee shop is just a few shops down from the popular HanNam Supermarket on North Road. The place is quite spacious enough to fit at least thirty to forty people inside.
It’s quite the old school charm with rustic furnishings and hipster décor creating a very earthly ambiance. They take great pride and dedication in crafting every cup of coffee here so do expect a longer wait time for your order to be ready.
All of their cakes and pastries are locally sourced from Chez Christophe in Burnaby. If you’re interested in having a cake or pastry here, they are all priced at $5.90.
They’ll buzz you when everything is ready!
Mocha ($4.50) and Iced Americano ($3.50) Steep price to pay for a cup here! My boyfriend and I weren’t feeling particularly hungry so we opted for just drinks. We waited about 10 minutes to get our drinks which is quite time consuming in my opinion… fortunately, we weren’t feeling too rushed or anything since we had the afternoon to ourselves. My Americano was nice a bitter just the way I like it 🙂 My boyfriend’s mocha had a great balance between the espresso and chocolate. The drink was srrong but not too sweet which was perfect. Probably one of the best I’ve ever tried in the city so far.
Everything about this place is perfect. Well, except for the price tag. I’m not too sure when I’ll ever feel like splurging $5 for a cup of coffee, but I definitely recommend checking this place out at least once if you’re in the area.
