As someone who used to frequent Bubble World as a kid, you could say that I’ll always have a soft spot for them. Bubble World has been a long standing bubble tea joint in the Lower Mainland for ages. And by ages I mean for almost two decades! My boyfriend and I had intended to check out a new cafe nearby, but due to the limited selection available, we ended up here instead. We didn’t want our parking meter to go to waste, anyway!
Ever since I started food blogging, I’ve noticed that I’m a bit greedier with wanting more than just one thing. Luckily, taiwanese establishments are pretty wallet-friendly 🙂
Salty Peppery Chicken Nuggets ($6.95) I almost always get deep friend chicken nuggets at any Taiwanese restaurant. If I’m not getting it as a combo with rice or noodle, you could expect me to get them as an appetizer. Although the portion size was more than enough, the chicken nuggets did not taste fresh at all. The skin was soft and chewy as if they were microwaved 😕 Small gestures such as fried basil would have added a nice touch to this dish as well.
Condensed Milk Toast ($4.50) Holy crap! The amount of condensed milk they gave us was a little too overwhelming. I think I got a bit sick from a few bites from sweetness. Probably half a can was used for this one slice ! ( I swear..). Nothing really much to complain about this dish here. The toast had the perfect amount of crunch and the extra layer of butter made a good contrast with the sweetness of the condensed milk.
Sesame Milk Tea ($4.25) with pearls (+$0.50) My boyfriend got the sesame milk tea as a drink. He’s been craving nothing but sesame milk tea lately! The only comment he gave me was that it tastes like regular sesame milk tea you get anywhere. Very helpful insight and commentary after two years of asking him about his food/drink eh? 😛
Tofu Dessert ($5.25) with pearls (+$0.50) Tofu dessert is a classic Chinese dessert topped with a sweet ginger syrup. This can be served either hot or cold ( I went with hot). I forgot to ask for half sweet, but the drink itself wasn’t too sweet at all. The ginger tea could have been stronger though. There was a good amount of silky tofu which itself is sweet as well. Had to add in the extra pearls for some texture 🙂
