Nothing says weekend quite like a scrumptious brunch. I always look forward to the weekend because it’s the only time I get to really wind down and relax and there’s honestly no better way to start a lazy weekend than a leisurely brunch with loved ones. My friend had a voucher for ARC Restaurant down by Coal Harbour and of course I couldn’t pass up the opportunity! Fancy dining at a fraction of the cost? You can always count me in 🙂
ARC Restaurant is situated at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel offering creative local in-season items with emphasis on contemporary Canadian cuisine. The restaurant underwent massive renovations a few years ago establishing a more sophisticated modern design paired with elegant and tasteful décor. It was a good thing I decided to dress up that day! Reservations were made in advance and I was promptly escorted to our table by the friendly hostess.
With my friend’s voucher of up to $30 off on the second entrée, we decided to go big and order the two most expensive items on their brunch menu. Their brunch menu is quite limited, but they do offer a good range of quintessential brunch items like eggs benedict, french toast, and hash. With the holiday season right now, they’ve actually revamped their brunch menu with a more festive approach like Turkey and Stuffing Benedict and Cranberry Waffles and Buttermilk Fried Turkey. If you feel like having a cup of coffee or tea to go with your brunch, be prepared to pay $6-7. You have been warned.
Complimentary Rosemary and Garlic Bread Rolls:For starters, we devoured on some warm and toasty bread rolls. I personally thought the bread rolls were nice and aromatic, but a little on the stale side.
Fried Chicken and Waffles ($24) Buttermilk fried chicken and sweet waffles, Noble Bourbon cask maple syrup. Portion size was huge with generous pieces of fried chicken and waffles enough for two to share. The quality of the meat was great and well seasoned but the batter was too overwhelming and crunchy. As the for the waffles, they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I really enjoyed pairing the waffles with the syrup provided.
Lobster Benny ($32) Tarragon hollandaise and butter poached Atlantic lobster, super green smoothie, fennel citrus salad. This dish was pretty outstanding! Luscious pieces of perfectly cooked lobster topped with a rich and tangy hollandaise sauce served on a buttery brioche toast. Mmm..
The fennel citrus salad was a refreshing with locally sourced greens plated on the side. The green smoothie was just passable as it had a slight bitter aftertaste. Throwing in a frozen banana would have added a nice creamy and sweet element in my opinion! Our waitress offered to give my friend and I an extra shot of green smoothie with no extra charge which was a nice gesture since we were sharing both entrees.
For an upscale establishment, I really felt that we were properly cared for that day. Service was impeccable which made the experience much more enjoyable.
