Mon Paris is a Parisian-inspired cafe that opened up its doors in early 2017 right across from Metrotown Station in Burnaby. The woman behind Mon Paris Patisserie is classically trained French pastry Chef Elena Krasnova. Her crafted confections here are sold at very moderate prices showcasing a unique array of delicacies ranging from éclairs, madeleines, and molded chocolates. I came here on a sunny afternoon with my girlfriend and luckily the place wasn’t bustling so we managed to get a table by the window. Seating is quite limited here as they can only accommodate about 10-15 people.
Layout here is quite spacious – they have a nice display of their pastries spread out.
Café menu prices are quite competitive to Fondway Cafe down the street..
Delicious selection of French pastries…
Signature Red Rooibos Tea with Raspberries and Mint ($3.49) minus the mint since they ran out. The quality of tea quite nice! Perfect summer drink as it was extremely refreshing and not too sweet!
Caramelia ($6.00) Tart shell with caramelized apples, caramel insert, and whipped caramel cream. From the display case, this dessert stood out to me the most as it was visually appealing and looked scrumptious! I wasn’t a big fan of the tart shell as it was way too sweet. The cream puffs and whipped cream, however, were nicely executed.
Caprise ($6.00) Macaron shell, pistachio cream, raspberry jam, and fresh raspberries. Doreen is a big fan of macarons in general so she went with this one. She thought the taste and texture was pretty on point compared to other macarons in the city. The balance between sweet and tart was perfect for her.
All in all, the place was okay but I’m not rushing to come back any time soon.
