Disclosure: All food was complimentary, but all opinions are my own.
Newest food truck on the block is The Praguery featuring freshly baked sweet and savoury chimney cakes inspired by the popular Czech dessert trdelnik. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept, trdelnik is a spit cake (cake roasted on a spit over a fire) made from vegan-friendly dough. The Praguery has only been opened for a few months, but they have been a crowd favourite from day one for their uniqueness. Prior to the food truck business, the owner actually had a booth at the Christmas Market down at Jack Poole Plaza last year, so you might have had a taste of these during the holiday season 🙂
Every batch is made fresh to order every day with a variety of pairings including nutella, lemon curd, ice cream, and strawberry.
Here’s a close up of their current offering:
My boyfriend and I decided to go with their top two flavours : Chocolate ($10) and Strawberry ($10)
Chocolate ($10) Just by looking at the price, I thought it was a bit steep but the portion size is huge. The chocolate comes with chocolate filling, soft serve ice cream, and chocolate drizzle on a chimney cake cone. I found the cone to a be a little on the sweet side. Unfortunately, their soft serve ice cream is not housemade but I thought it was pretty good as it had a nice creamy consistency. My boyfriend finished his really fast!
Strawberry ($10) Similar to the Chocolate flavour, but with strawberry jam and strawberry drizzle. I wish this came with housemade jam as it was just a tad too sweet. A little tartness would have been more enjoyable in my opinion. I think a slice of fresh strawberry would’ve also made the presentation much nicer as well 🙂
They are normally within the vicinity of Olympic Village area, to double check their location I would suggest using Street Food Vancouver or download their app to confirm the locations for all food trucks in the Lower Mainland 🙂
