What’s the one coffee shop every coffee lover needs to visit? The Coffee Bun and I seriously can’t stress that enough! As a food blogger, I’m often asked what my favourite restaurant is. To be honest, I don’t have one! There are so many restaurants that I’ve yet to try, but I will tell people that my favourite coffee shop is The Coffee Bun in Coquitlam. This place was love at first bite. I used to work in the area and have been a regular here pretty much ever since about five years ago. Now that I’m working in Vancouver, I try to make the trip here on the weekend with the boyfriend to grab a snack and coffee.
The Coffee Bun is located inside Henderson Place on Pinetree Way across from the newly built Coquitlam Town Centre Skytrain Station. The place has two separate entries that you can enter from either outside or inside the mall. The original location is in North Vancouver right by Lonsday Quay but I do prefer this location much more for the ambiance and convenience. The traffic here has steadily increased over the years catering more to the younger crowd with a newer menu offering breakfast sandwiches, sweets, shaved ice, and many more types of flavours for their coffee buns.
Due to the increase in traffic lately, they’ve added more tables and chairs.
They have over ten flavours of coffee buns, a variety of hot/cold drinks and desserts (waffles, macarons, cakes, and ice cream). They offer a loyalty reward program! After 9 purchased drinks the 10th drink is free. It’s not valid for their combos.
Combo A ($4). This is their combo featuring a regular Coffee Bun with Hot Americano. The coffee is made with Kicking Horse coffee beans freshly brewed on the spot. The exterior had a nice coffee flavoured crispy shell over the soft and buttery bun. It’s best to eat them when they’re fresh out of the oven. Otherwise, you could always request to have the bun heated up. This is the boyfriend’s favourite go-to combo 🙂
Combo B ($6). This is their combo featuring a regular Coffee Bun with Iced Americano. This one is my favourite combo! Whenever I’m not feeling hungry, I like to swing by and grab their Iced Americano to go or spend hours here on my laptop.
Earl Grey Coffee Bun($3.50) Boyfriend was still feeling hungry so he decided to order an extra one to share. The bun had a nice floral fragrance to it. Pretty unique flavour with the savoury butter filling! But I still prefer the original more for its simplicity 🙂 Their milk bun is also worth a try!
I’m glad that the quality has remained the same after all these years. The owner here is very passionate and hardworking. He comes in early every day to make sure everything is operating smoothly before he takes off for the day and comes back in the evening to close. Can’t wait to come back!
